Nicola still remembers the turning point: gaining weight at university and never quite feeling like herself. At 36 years old, she’s “mum” to her 8 year old daughter, and “HR director” to her colleagues. Despite living a slower pace of life in a quiet village in West Sussex , her internal battle with weight has been constant – until she joined Voy.
Now, her aches and pains have disappeared and she’s no longer in denial about her weight. This is how she lost 12kg (1 st 12 lbs) with Mounjaro on Voy.

18 years of weight loss and regain
Before I found Mounjaro, my relationship with food and my body was complicated. I started gaining weight at 21, not long after starting uni, and it just never stopped. Then I had my daughter 8 years ago and gained even more. I joined a slimming group and lost 3 stone over a year, but it never lasted.
Over the last 18 years, I’ve probably joined Slimming World 20 times. It helped me drop weight, sure, but I never actually learned how to stop eating when I was full or what a balanced portion looked like.
I’ve tried more fad diets than you’ve had hot dinners
Slimming World was my go-to, but to be honest, the list is endless – I talk about it all the time on TikTok. Weight Watchers, the 5:2 diet, every type of intermittent fasting, even that Flat Stomach Diet book. Every time, I’d start something new and just hope this would be the one that worked.
The most toxic one was The Cambridge Weight Plan. It cost a fortune, and you had to buy all the food from them. Porridge for breakfast, a shake for lunch and an inedible something for dinner. It was basically just extreme calorie-cutting with a fancy price tag.
“I’ve seen other TikTokers talking about Voy, I’ve seen the orange case. Everyone wants one!”
Suddenly, investing in my health felt worthwhile
I first started taking Mounjaro via an online pharmacy, then switched to MedExpress, but the support just wasn’t there. I was spending all this money, but if I wasn’t changing my mindset, what was the point? That’s when I realised I needed something more structured, something with real support. So I gave Voy a try.
Funnily enough, it was my partner’s old cleaner who first introduced us to it. She lives around the corner and had given my partner a leaflet during a visit. I thought it all sounded so drastic, but then we went on holiday and I found myself, once again, dreading putting on a swimming costume. I was fed up. That was the moment I decided to go for it.
I honestly couldn’t believe how different the experience with Voy was. The level of support is just miles ahead of anything else. My partner was still with a different provider for a while. She had issues with payments and delivery, and the customer service was non-existent. With Voy, we called about a delivery issue and they sorted it straight away – they even dispatched a pen on a Saturday with express shipping.
I was genuinely excited for my first injection
When the Voy box arrived on my doorstep, I couldn’t wait. I did the injection within 20 minutes! I’d done so much research beforehand, but I think it’s important, as you can’t just rely on what people are posting on social media. Everyone’s journey is different, and the stories that end up in the media are usually the extreme ones.
I wanted to feel prepared. But even then, I was nervous. In the end, I chose my thigh for the injection. It was a big moment, but it felt like the start of something I’d been needing for a long time.
My month-by-month journey with Mounjaro
Week 1
The injection itself was totally fine, much easier than I expected. The next morning, it was like someone had flicked a switch in my brain. That constant food chatter just stopped. I had really strong appetite suppression, a bit of nausea in the first few days, but overall it felt like, “What is this magical medication?”
Week 2
I went from obsessing over food to completely forgetting about it. I had to make a real effort to get my calories in and eat regularly. I still felt a bit sick in the mornings, but otherwise I felt great. The only struggle was constipation. Overall though, I’ve been really lucky with side effects.
Month 3
By this point, I’d spent about two months on each dose: 2.5mg, then 5mg. I like to stay on a dose for a while to let my body settle. Starting 5mg just before Christmas was a bit rough, because the nausea hit me. But a couple of weeks in, things calmed down and I started feeling good again. I was nervous to move up but once the side effects wore off, I was fine.
Month 4
7.5mg was a game changer. I had energy again, like, proper “get up and go” energy. I actually moved up to 10mg by accident. I forgot to select 7.5mg in the app and figured, “Why not?” I needed a bit of a boost anyway.
Month 5
By now I’ve lost over a stone and a half with Voy! I’ve just started 10mg and you can definitely feel it. I’ve learned to manage the nausea by eating something small as soon as I wake up, drinking loads of water, and if I need to, I’ll have peppermint tea or paracetamol. Honestly, it’s all completely manageable (and completely worth it).
“I actually like myself again. Everyone deserves to feel that.”
No more crying when I put my clothes on
When I was at my heaviest, I had constant pain in my hips, knees and back. Now? No aches, no discomfort. I don’t get out of breath walking up the stairs either. It’s like I’ve got my body back.
One of the best moments was digging out old clothes from the back of my wardrobe, things I kept “just in case,” but honestly never thought I’d fit into again. I remember buying a pair of trousers that wouldn’t even go over my knees. I threw them to the back of the wardrobe and forgot about them. Recently, I tried them on… and they fit!
With Voy, the difference is obvious
What’s surprised me most about Voy is just how fast and responsive they are. With Medexpress, I’d send an email and wait at least 48 hours for a reply. With Voy, I get a response in the app in under a minute, and usually my question is fully answered within 10 minutes. For someone like me who struggles with health anxiety, that kind of quick support makes such a difference.
“Delivery is fast and the app is easy to use. They’re always quick to reply to messages, but you don’t even have to talk to anyone if you don’t want to.”
I also love that Voy looks at the bigger picture, not just the medication. I asked what would happen once I hit my goal – whether I could stop or maybe stay on a lower dose – and they told me “You tell us what you want to do, and we’ll support you.” That kind of flexibility and reassurance is exactly what makes this weight loss journey different to anything else I’ve tried.
